Why A Dog Portrait?
There are many reasons you might look into dog portrait photography, many being the same reason you would have a family portrait taken. For many people their dogs are a big part of their family, and sadly they do not live as long as we do.
A stunning photograph of your dog is an enduring tribute to the loyalty shown by your beloved friend.
Maybe you have a new puppy and want to have a memento of your dog’s early life.

Whatever reason you may have, here at Shooting The Dog our dog portrait photography will help you achieve what you are dreaming of.
With options ranging from photo books, classic framed photographs, stunning canvases and acrylic panels to modern and stylish aluminium prints; we have something that will fit into any style of home.

“Wow! Just a wonderful all round experience. To get three dogs herded into one picture is such an achievement. Tom is very sensitive to the dogs and the owners. Got a book which will last us a lifetime.“

A Visit To The Studio
What Happens When You Arrive
When you first arrive for your dog portrait photo shoot, we will take time to get to know your dog, and you. We will discuss what sort of portrait you are looking for. Then we will explain what is expected from you during the shoot and then run through what happens after the shoot.
The Photo Shoot
The photo shoot itself can differ depending on your dog and location. We will let you know if we need your assistance, otherwise just leave it all to us.
To give you an idea of what happens we have a little behind the scenes video to show you the sort of thing to expect:
During the photo shoot we take as long as needed with you and your dog(s) to get the images you want.

For studio shoots we normally advise to allow about an hour. For location shoots we would advise allowing up to two hours for the shoot. Please bear in mind that the more dogs included then the longer it is likely to take!
Once the photo shoot is complete, we will explain what happens next.
After The Photo Shoot
The next step is for us to work our magic and turn the photographs taken in the photoshoot into unique works of art, worthy of hanging on the walls of your home.
When we have completed all the post processing work, we will contact you to arrange a viewing session at the studio. We will take you through the finalised images from your dog portrait photography. Examples of the products we can provide will be available and we will help you make the best choice of wall art for your home.
If you are unable to make it to the studio for a viewing session, then we can provide you with a link to your own on-line viewing gallery in the clients area of this site, and a password for access. We can always arrange a phone call to talk you through things and suggest what would work best for you.
Normally your images are ready for viewing within one or two working days of the shoot. If a lot of images were taken during the shoot this can take a little longer.
When Will My Art Be Ready?
Once you have made your choice, we finalise any changes to the photographs. The files are sent to our specialist suppliers. About three weeks later your artwork is all ready for you to collect. Then we get to see the wonderful reaction from our clients when they see the finished products. That’s always a good bit!

Let’s talk Money!
We have a very simple pricing model in place. There is a £85 booking fee, which is payable on the day of your shoot. This includes either a £50 credit towards your final wall art/album order, or an 8 x 10 loose print if you prefer.
The booking fee includes up to three dogs, and so can be shared with your friends if you like. We charge £5.00 for every extra dog, over the included three, that you want included in the photo shoot.
We have found that everybody wants something slightly different from their shoot. This method allows us to tailor the shoot to your needs, and you only pay for exactly what you want.
Alternatively, check out our new Digital Dog Packages which include a photoshoot, editing and digital downloads.
